MAKE DISCIPLES, ONE HEART AT A TIME

God has a special purpose for every Christian and every church. GVCC has a mission; it’s based on the Great Commission of Christ when He said, “…go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

The process of becoming a true disciple of Jesus is an individual one. Once we are born again, we all grow into Christ-likeness at varying rates and to different degrees. The Leadership of our church has specified seven distinct dimensions of discipleship by which we can help each other measure our progress.

A disciple of Christ is a baptized believer whose devotion to God is demonstrated in the following ways:

1. Consistent daily prayer, Bible reading, repentance and personal renewal.

2. Regular financial contribution to the work of the Lord being carried out by the congregation.

3. An understanding of spiritual authority, demonstrating a willing submission to the guidance and counsel of the church leadership.

4. Commitment to personal accountability through involvement in a small group and/or one-on-one discipling relationship.

5. Dependable participation in the scheduled activities of the congregation.

6. Reliable service in a designated area of ministry within the congregation; under the supervision of its leadership.

7. Active compassion for those in need and a heart for the lost.

WE BELIEVE:

The Bible is the Word of God, the final authority in all matters of faith. It is a reliable source for every aspect of our lives.

Jesus Christ is the eternal son of God. He became a man to save all of us from the consequences of our sins by dying in our place. He is the Savior of the world and the Lord of all who come to Him in faith.

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity. He teaches us the will of God, convicts us of sin and empowers us to obey the Lord. While GVCC is not a “charismatic” church in the contemporary sense of the term, we do believe in the Gifts of the Spirit and are eager to experience the power of the Holy Spirit at work among us.

Salvation from sin is by faith in Jesus Christ, made possible by the grace of God. Though there is nothing we can do to earn a right relationship with God, authentic faith is always active. Those who accept Christ as Savior welcome Him to be Lord of their lives too. They are willing to do whatever He asks. This obedience of faith includes Repentance, Baptism and an ever-increasing desire to submit to Christ in all things.

The Church is the living presence of Jesus in the world today. Every local congregation should be a visible representation of the world-wide Body of Christ. While we view ourselves as Christians only, we are not the only Christians. Every effort must be made to love and respect all sincere followers of Jesus.

Someday, in His Second Coming Jesus Christ will visibly return to Earth to gather His people to Himself; to judge the wicked and establish the Kingdom of God forever.

Heaven is the destiny of all who have put their faith in Jesus Christ. Those who reject the Gospel will be condemned by their own sins to eternity in Hell.

The responsibility of every church and each individual Christian is to carry out the Great Commission of Jesus: “Go and make disciples of every nation, baptizing them into the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey whatever I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Green Valley Christian Church prefers in person giving.  When you are on extended trips you may mail your offering.  The pastor may hold your offering until you return so you may participate in the Offering Celebration.  If you must use online giving contact the CFO through "Drop Us a Line!"
